MODUL4R gathering at Swiss Smart Factory
Our MODUL4R team across Europe kicked off 2025 with a general assembly at Swiss Smart Factory in Biele, Switzerland. MODUL4R experts gathered at Switzerland Innovation Park on 21-22 January to share and discuss their scientific progress and align on key project milestones.
The first day featured in-depth progress updates, as each partner detailed developments in their respective research areas. Unlike routine online discussions, the in-person setting fostered dynamic brainstorming and deeper discussion on critical open issues.
On the second day, hands-on planning workshops laid the groundwork for the four use-cases implemented in MODUL4R namely: automotive mould making, automated PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembly, aerospace tool manufacturing, and Through-Hole Technology (THT) soldering. MODUL4R experts defined which MODUL4R solutions will be apllied to each pilot, ensuring alignment with partner needs and identifying areas for further consideration.
A core highlight of the meeting was the intensive discussion on integrating components into the MODUL4R architecture covering all interfaces and layers from the field and shopfloor (assets, sensors, CPS) over edge and fog layer (service and private platforms) up to cloud layer (cloud platforms and Industrial Metaverse).. Recognizing the strategic importance of this integration, the consortium established regular follow-up meetings to drive continuous progress.
With the next face-to-face meeting slated for June 2025 in Germany the MODUL4R team will continue its close collaboration remotely.
