MODUL4R team gathers in Spain for the Month 12 General Assembly

On January 23-24, 2024, the Month 12 General Assembly brought the project team members to Arrasate-Mondragon, Spain, to discuss the project, learn about the research activities and any achievements that have been noted thus far, and look ahead at what needs to be done.

After having successfully accomplished its first full year of operations, significant research progress has been made in MODUL4R. Some key-takeaways from the two-day meeting are as follows:

  • The modular architecture for the manufacturing industry, which represents the MODUL4R backbone, requires specific technical solutions and/or qualified approaches covering everything from process-related information to connecting with the Industrial Metaverse.

  • The first functional models are available for the central modules.

  • The requirements for the three use cases have been defined and concrete technical solutions were discussed.

On the second day of the meeting, dedicated workshops were held on the three use-cases to be implemented in the project framework. Among these workshops, special focus was placed on the NECO company use case, which demonstrates a flexible modular finishing system for highly customized taps which is intended for application in aero and windmill manufacturing sectors.

As the overall landscape of the project's first year came into focus, it was clear that prospects for continued success are strong. Many thanks to our team members for the productive discussions and feedback, and to the organizers for a successful meeting!

The close collaboration among partners will continue online until the next face-to-face meeting scheduled for this summer.
